DESCRIPTION:
The set-up consists of a glass column packed with Rasching rings. Continuous counter current contacts between the solvent and solute phases is made, which results into extract and raffinate streams. Flow meters (Rotameters) are used to note the flow of solvent & solute respectively. The continuous and dispersed phase streams are metered and derived from separate containers. The total set-up is housed in a well-designed rigid structure. The structure also supports tanks, piping, Rotameters, panel and other units.
EXPERIMENTATION:
To determine overall mass transfer co-efficient based on continuous & dispersed phase.
To determine individual “Height of Transfer Unit” based on continuous & dispersed phase.

DESCRIPTION:
The York Scheibel's Column falls in the class of gravity-operated extractors with mechanical agitation. The presence of alternatively agitating and calming sections in a York Scheibel's column yield higher extraction efficiency than the conventional packed column. In the setup a continuous counter current contact between the solvent and solute phases is made which results into extract and raffinate streams. Flow meters (Rotameter) are used to note the flow of solvent and solute respectively. The continuous and dispersed face streams are metered and derived from separate containers. Each stage consists of a woven wire mesh section and a mixing section. The propeller speed can be controlled to the desired value by a controller. DESCRIPTION                                           
The experimental set-up of Spray Tower consists of a glass column provided with necessary accessories. It operates on a semi-batch mode. Fine spray nozzle is fitted at the top. Feeds are metered by Rotameters and derived from separate feed tanks. DESCRIPTION:-
The setup consists of Bonnotto type extractor of slotted circular plates arranged one above the other in opposite radial opening. The solids are introduced at the top through a hopper spread over the top plate by a rack and pushed to slot to fall to the next plate below and so on to the bottom of the column. The solvent is introduced near the bottom of the column and it flow upward counter-currently to the solids. A pump supplies the solvent and flow rate is monitored by means of a Rotameter. At the bottom of column a screw conveyor arrangement is done to remove the extracted solids driven by means of an electric motor. Solvent feed tank is kept in a bath fitted with heater and digital temperature controller is used to maintain the constant temperature.

Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

The equipment consists of jacketed pressure vessel for distillation. Steam from a steam generator can either be allowed to enter in the outer jacket or in the vessel. The equipment consists of jacketed pressure vessel for distillation. Steam from a steam generator can either be allowed to enter in the outer jacket or in the vessel. Rotary dryer is a unit in which drying is done by forced draft action created by hot air. The set-up consists of a long revolving cylindrical shell slightly inclined towards the outlet. The shell is fitted with two brackets for support. Air from a blower passes through a heating chamber serves the purpose of drying agent. Rotary dryer is a unit in which drying is done by forced draft action created by hot air. The set-up consists of a long revolving cylindrical shell slightly inclined towards the outlet. The shell is fitted with two brackets for support. Air from a blower passes through a heating chamber serves the purpose of drying agent. An arrangement for rotating the dryer shell at low RPM is provided by means of an electrical motor and a reduction gearbox.

Wet feed enters from one end of the cylinder and dry material discharges from the other end. As the shell rotates internal flights lift the solids and shower them down through the interior of the shell. This action increases the contact of wet solid against hot air making the dryer very effective. The flow of hot air is counter-current to solids. This software package provides a comprehensive educational software environment within which the investigations can be performed. This software is capable to tabulate the sample readings according to the requirement of experiment under study and results obtained can be compared. The real time data acquisition can be done by interfacing the set-up with computer using software. Software allows the user to have control on data logging, printing the stored data, preparing spread sheets in Excel etc.

This is a dryer in which moisture removal takes place by fluidization of solids particles by hot air. The set-up fitted with a specially designed, vertical Glass Column. The lower portion of the column is filled with fluidizing material. The material is supported on the screen mesh held between two flanges.
